Srinagar, Jun 05 (KNO): A minor fire incident was reported on Wednesday at Chest Disease Hospital in Dalgate area of Srinagar, officials said.
They added that a short circuit resulted in the blaze, while prompt and timely action by the administrative staff and others prevented a major tragedy.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that at around 09:55 AM, smoke was seen coming out from the roof of a building in the Government Chest Disease Hospital, Dalgate, Srinagar, due to a short circuit.
“Prompt and timely action by the administrative staff, security personnel, hospital staff, and others extinguished the fire with the help of available resources, and the fire was controlled immediately while no injury was reported,” the official said.
In the meantime, the Fire and Emergency Services Department was intimated.
Meanwhile, sources in the hospital told KNO that this office has communicated with the concerned Department (Electricity Division Srinagar) to check out any further risk of fire in the hospital as soon as possible in order to prevent any hazardous events in the future for the safety of hospital property as well as the life of staff.
Besides, the Fire and Emergency department will be informed to conduct a fire audit of the said hospital on an urgent basis—(KNO)
